The eighth Northeastern Ethnic Group Culture, Sport and Tourism Festival concluded in Tuyen Quang province on September 30.
The
five-day event, co-organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and
Tourism and the Tuyen Quang provincial People’s Committee, brought
together 700 actors, artisans and athletes from provinces in the region,
including Tuyen Quang, Bac Kan, Ha Giang, Lang Son, Thai Nguyen, Quang
Ninh, Phu Tho, and Vinh Phuc.
A
variety of activities and art performances showcasing traditional
customs, food, costumes, folk games and sports took place during the
event.
At
the closing ceremony, the organising board presented 19 A prizes, 38 B
prizes, 31 C prizes and one consolation prize to outstanding
performances and individuals in artistic and cultural events.
Tuyen
Quang province secured the top spot in the sporting events with 14
gold, seven silver and two bronze medals, followed by Phu Tho in second
place with five golds, four silvers and six bronzes, and Thai Nguyen in
third with one gold, five silvers and eight bronzes.
The
festival aimed to promote tourism and the beautiful landscape of Tuyen
Quang, as well as the cultural identities of ethnic groups in
northeastern Vietnam, and offer an opportunity for the ethnic groups to gather and exchange experiences.
